All about the van

Keen eyed film fans might already recognise our van as a recreation of the Sicurezza Bullion Van from the original Italian Job (1969). Ours is a slightly later model, a 1968 OM Leoncino.
OM was a famous car factory based in Brescia since the 19th century and after 1968 became Fiat which was an amalgation of OM and UNIC and the OM Leoncino we use today was the last year the van was produced and the last model using the name OM.
For the film it was a regular van when bought, so when Disley Jones and his art crew transformed it into a convincing security van it was just a van dressed up to look like what they imagined an Italian Security van looked like. After filming finished the vehicals that hadn’t been destoyed in the making of the film were dismantled.
This later model was transformed as a recreation of the original and was used for the 50th anniversary revival at Goodwood in 2019
